It gives me pleasure to know that Sir Syed School of Sports, Delhi in collaboration with Press Club of India is organizing a symposium "Indian Hockey - in Search of an Identity" in the second week of April.
Next to cricket, hockey is the most popular game of our Country. It is the game in which India had earned fame in the World due to Hockey wizard, Dhyan Chand. Lately this distinction had been lost due to several reasons. Concerted efforts are needed by the Government and sports lovers for reviving the past glory in this game.
I hope useful deliberations would be held in the symposium to formulate the roadmap for reviving the prestige in Hockey.
I send my best wishes.

It is also a matter of pleasure that the school is also bringing out a Souvenir in order to promote & propagate sports awareness, especially Hockey, among the masses.
Being a national game, we can boast about Hockey as it has achieved a milestone in keeping its place and dignity in the sports arena. We should encourage this sports among the coming generation. Such symposium and the souvenir will certainly encourage the youth to participate in the Hockey events.
I extend my heartiest wishes for the success of the Symposium and for the publication of Souvenir.

I congratulate for bringing out a symposium on "Indian Hockey in search of an identity".
All hockey lovers have been experiencing a persistent chagrin because of the depths to which Indian Hockey (once the pride of the Nation) has been reduced. This has happened initially because of a blind acceptance by our representatives of changes in rules adverse to our technique of Hockey and subsequently by gross and arbitrary mismanagement and internal discords.
In case we want to survive as a hockey playing nation, we should make a massive effort to regenerate this game. Let us hope that the envisaged souvenir will spark thinking on this important issue.

It is necessary to know that "Sir Syed School of Sports" brings out the Souvenir on Indian Hockey in search of our Identity.
The headings of this Souvenir itself create the conditions of Indian Hockey. Time has come to rebuild the team and the working conditions of Indian hockey, through different opinions of part players and Hockey lovers for the golden days we can bring again.
I send my best wishes for the success the Souvenir which may open the eyes of federals.

The prowess of a country is gauged by its standing in sports apart from economic and social indicators of development. Today we have few best names in sports arena but there is also declining phase for some of the institutional games like Hockey.
The Sir Syed School of Sports deserves full marks for their endeavours in organizing a Symposium on Indian Hockey at a critical juncture which will go a long way in finding right paths to restore the glory of Hockey as a mainstream sport.
I extend my best wishes for the success of this venture.
