The former President of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, is happy to know that the Sir Syed School of Sports, New
Delhi in association with the Press Club of India is organising a Symposium "Indian Hockey - in Search of an Identity" in March, 2007.
The President extends his warm greetings and felicitations to the organisers and the participants and wishes the Symposium all success.
Our Aim
The main purpose in bringing out this symposium is to restore the lost glory of Hockey. Which once occupied to find ways and means to the lost pride of place among the sports. It is a well known fact that Hockey brought name and fame for the country. Efforts will be to inculcate interest in Hockey and improve its standards. More importantly to enthuse the youth of this country. The soccer is intended to moralize the academic circles, intellectuals and all those who are concerned about the future of Hockey towards the achievement of this goal.
I am sure if concrete efforts are made towards this direction we will soon be able to achieve our cherished goal to restore this favorite sport and its lost glory.
